"However they put it, the Democrat approach in Iraq comes down to this: The terrorists win and America loses."` ⇒

Bush is a jack-ass. I also have no sympathy for American's that eat up this "be afraid of the terrorists" bull shit.
This is a post from my link log: If you click the title of this post you will be taken the web page I am discussing.
Perhaps this is a stupid question, but what exactly characterizes an American victory in Iraq? (i.e. What aims do they intend to achieve – democracy, kill all the terrorists, remove Saddam from power, etc.?) Similarly, what constitutes a victory by the terrorists? (The second question, implies that there could be gray area with either neither or both “side” “win”; in particular, if the victory conditions are defined as “America wins iff the terrorists lose” and “the terrorists win iff America loses” then we have a tautology that lacks any practical value).
I ask this because “Stay the course” is (at best) a means to and end, but not an end itself. Moreover, without knowing what aims the US wants/needs to achieve, it’s impossible to assess the merits of the (differing) strategies and the current progress towards “victory”.
