A painting of me

"[Immigration ] destroyed much of the biological diversity in the areas into which it had poured." ⇒

   11 December 2006, early afternoon

That's a throw-away line in a longer article on the CBC not being balanced in its coverage of multiculturalism. I'm not entirely sure what that means, but I have a nagging suspicion I'll need to add Immigration Watch Canada to my list of websites run by crazy people. This link was found via Dispatches from the Hogtown Front.

This is a post from my link log: If you click the title of this post you will be taken the web page I am discussing.

  1. i want to know what this person thinks about the Aboriginal people whose biological diversity was destroyed by his ancestors.

people like that reminds me why I am in school.

  2. At first I thought they were trying to argue that immigrants were from another species (not an uncommon argument on these sorts of sites). Thankfully they just think immigrants are the root cause of urban sprawl.

  3. I took it to mean that immigrant groups tend to cluster in enclaves, creating a homogenous population, eliminating any diversity…

not sure why they used biodiversity though… obv in nature biodiversity is seen as vital and beneficial but these people don’t seem to be the biggest proponents of diversity anyway

Some things to keep in mind: You can style comments using Textile. In particular, *text* will get turned into text and _text_ will get turned into text. You can post a link using the command "linktext":link, so something like "google":http://www.google.com will get turned in to google. I may erase off-topic comments, or edit poorly formatted comments; I do this very rarely.
