Ask.Mefi: How do I stop my 17-month-old daughter from feeling entitled to nurse when she wakes up in the middle of the night? ⇒

Am I the only one who thinks if your daughter is self aware enough to point at the chair you feed her from, she's too old to be breast fed?
This is a post from my link log: If you click the title of this post you will be taken the web page I am discussing.
I was breast fed until I was two, I think.. I’ve heard that the longer you can breast feed your child the better.

I guess I should have said, “if your daughter is self aware enough to point at the chair you feed her from, she’s old enough to be told to wait.” I know lots of people nurse till their kids are two, but it always seemed strange to me since by then children are pretty big.

I once saw what looked like a 4 year old sucking on his mothers breast at my nieces dance recital.
I was horrified and disgusted.
I say if he can play with a gameboy, he can drink from a glass.

I think that’s something everyone can agree on.

I’m never disgusted by the boob. Doesn’t bother me at all seeing people breastfeed outside. Though, I can accept a lot of things people might think are deviant. =)

I think I may have “thought right past” my point. From how I grew up, a 4 year old being fed that way wouldn’t bother me. Us Chinese people are momma’s boys / girls, and I think the bonding is good.
