A painting of me

"Little Mosque has a political message. It's telling Canadians Muslim immigration isn't a problem and that legitimate concerns about Muslim terrorism are the product of prejudice and paranoia." ⇒

I'm sorry, but if you are afraid of Muslim Jihadists in Toronto you are certainly paranoid or prejudiced -- in some cases probably both. Toronto isn't Baghdad. The world isn't like an episode of 24. The world would be a better place if people put their energy into dealing with actual threats to our lives -- boring stuff like cancer and heart disease.

  1. Nice work, dude. You really held your own here. I agree that we could use a serious debate on the “threat” posed my Muslim immigration, and I think you just had one right here.

  2. I’m not so sure: the internet isn’t a good forum for conflict resolution.

  3. “...when in reality, ‘charity work’ in Afghanistan has often been used as a cover for terrorist activity.”

    Wow.

  4. Matt writes about promoting public debate.

Don't be shy, you can comment too!

Some things to keep in mind: You can style comments using Textile. In particular, *text* will get turned into text and _text_ will get turned into text. You can post a link using the command "linktext":link, so something like "google":http://www.google.com will get turned in to google. I may erase off-topic comments, or edit poorly formatted comments; I do this very rarely.
