A painting of me

Michael Tsai's MacBook Pro sounds like it gives him as much trouble as Shima's iBook. ⇒

He offers advice on backing up your data -- advice Shima should really follow.

  1. I had a heart attack when I realised my portfolio wasn’t on the external. I think I need to back up things every week on a CD. External devices aren’t as reliable.

  2. You can’t fit that much stuff on a DVD or a CD though. I think hard drives are the way to go. Another good option is off-site online back up like what you can do with Amazon S3.

  3. My portfolio is only 3Gs.. is that too big for a DVD? :s

  4. A DVD is 4.7 gigs. So your portfolio would fit for now, but I imagine its just going to get bigger and bigger, not smaller. I should buy you SuperDuper or something so you can clone your hard drive to the external.

  5. What if I promise to keep my portfolio 4.6Gs and never let it get bigger? :D

    What is a superduper? :s

Don't be shy, you can comment too!

Some things to keep in mind: You can style comments using Textile. In particular, *text* will get turned into text and _text_ will get turned into text. You can post a link using the command "linktext":link, so something like "google":http://www.google.com will get turned in to google. I may erase off-topic comments, or edit poorly formatted comments; I do this very rarely.
