A painting of me

Shima is getting ready for Persian New Year. ⇒

   12 March 2007, late morning

I'm supposed to jump over fire tomorrow. I've been with Shima for 4 years now, and have yet to do this. I'm afraid of falling into the fire and being laughed at. I'll let you all know how it goes.

This is a post from my link log: If you click the title of this post you will be taken the web page I am discussing.

  1. Happy Nu Ruz Shima and Ram!

I love the traditions of Nu Ruz..do you have your grass and goldfish?

  2. Thanks Radmila!

Nope, not yet. My parents usually grow it themselves, but in the last few years they’ve just bought it at the New Years market so I think I’ll do the same this year. And I’m looking for a pet shop near our place downtown to get the gold fish! One of my parents’ gold fish is still alive from last year! Which is quite the accomplishment, if I do say so myself! :)

  3. Years ago, I taught in a school with a very large Persian community…this time of year, the parents were very generous in sharing their traditions and food.

    Very lovely.

All the best to you and your family.

  4. You jump over a fire!? That sounds so cool! How big is the fire?

Don't be shy, you can comment too!

Some things to keep in mind: You can style comments using Textile. In particular, *text* will get turned into text and _text_ will get turned into text. You can post a link using the command "linktext":link, so something like "google":http://www.google.com will get turned in to google. I may erase off-topic comments, or edit poorly formatted comments; I do this very rarely.
