A painting of me

Nearly 36 percent of adults in Washington D.C. are functionally illiterate, compared with a 21% national average. ⇒

Both those numbers seem way too high.

  1. “Adults who have trouble doing such things as comprehending bus schedules, reading maps and filling out job applications are considered functionally illiterate.”

    It may or may not be that high, depending on the tasks performed.

  2. I have problems understanding bus schedules. Like I show up to the stop and it’s just a bunch of numbers I don’t understand. ;;

  3. I think my problem is understanding how the numbers on the bus schedule relate to when the bus will arrive.

Don't be shy, you can comment too!

Some things to keep in mind: You can style comments using Textile. In particular, *text* will get turned into text and _text_ will get turned into text. You can post a link using the command "linktext":link, so something like "google":http://www.google.com will get turned in to google. I may erase off-topic comments, or edit poorly formatted comments; I do this very rarely.
