Secular Turks say, "We don't want an imam in the presidential palace." ⇒

Lucky for them, more often than not, neither does the army. Turkey is an interesting country. I have to go visit one day.

This is a post from my link log: If you click the title of this post you will be taken the web page I am discussing.

  1. I want to visit Turkey someday too. I’m not sure my Mom will like that idea though – my cousin got deported from there in 2004.

  2. turkey recently prevented a bill being passed in the UN about the armenian genocide of 1915 and also stopped an exhibition from happening at the UN regarding the rwandan genocide because the exhibition referred to the massacre of the armenians in 1915 as a genocide…they may not want an imam in their presidential palace…most countries in the region don’t…but ‘they’ also don’t want a fascist state…secular or otherwise.

Don't be shy, you can comment too!

Some things to keep in mind: You can style comments using Textile. In particular, *text* will get turned into text and _text_ will get turned into text. You can post a link using the command "linktext":link, so something like "google":http://www.google.com will get turned in to google. I may erase off-topic comments, or edit poorly formatted comments; I do this very rarely.
