World Tamil Movement leader supports Tamil Tigers but denies his group funded them. ⇒

That Kathiravelupillai supports what the LTTE does strikes me as being of little importance. If his group the World Tamil Movement was, well that's another story. Its been a year since their stuff was sized by the RCMP, and no charges have been laid yet. That Chomsky book has me questioning everything I read now. I think it's making me crazy. I wonder if people realize how popular the LTTE are amongst the Tamil community. Also, there has been plenty written online about how crap the LTTE are, yet for some reason Michael has chosen two particularly lame sources for information on them. Contrary to what the South Asian Terrorism Portal says, terrorism in Sri Lanka didn't start in 1970, it started much earlier than that. (I'm also not sure a site called the South Asian Terrorism Portal is going to give you an informed take on the LTTE.) I also enjoyed how The Council on Foreign Relations can't talk about the LTTE without mentioning Al Qaeda. If this was the 80s, you know all the questions would sound like this: "Are the LTTE communists?" or, "Do the LTTE have ties to the Soviets?" I still think the UTHR(J) do the best job covering Sri Lanka, but they aren't too kind to the government or the LTTE, which is probably why they don't get much press.
