What is the Completely Fair Scheduler? ⇒

   3 August 2007, early morning

I can't remember what sort of scheduler we implemented in the OS we wrote. And by We, I mean Ryan, since I'm pretty sure he wrote that part.

This is a post from my link log: If you click the title of this post you will be taken the web page I am discussing.

  1. Nachos has a lame scheduler. We had to do some minor work to add more states to our threads (e.g. to handle suspended threads) as well as implementing thread priorities. There were also a few little tweaks for how we save/restore the address space, registers, etc. when swapping out processes. (I’m guessing you did that…I just have the final result, not the CVS history).

Don't be shy, you can comment too!

Some things to keep in mind: You can style comments using Textile. In particular, *text* will get turned into text and _text_ will get turned into text. You can post a link using the command "linktext":link, so something like "google":http://www.google.com will get turned in to google. I may erase off-topic comments, or edit poorly formatted comments; I do this very rarely.
