A painting of me

Why I dislike the Santa Claus parade. ⇒

Those are all good reasons.

This is a post from my link log: If you click the title of this post you will be taken the web page I am discussing.

  1. The parade isn’t organized for adults. That’s not the point. We took our one year-old yesterday and he LOVED it, even though I was bored. He sat happily in our arms for 90 minutes and didn’t fuss once. Try that at home.

We avoided the TTC by walking. We didn’t see any garbage left behind where we were on Bloor Street. And just because there’s a Wal Mart float doesn’t mean you have to shop there…

    THINK ABOUT THE KIDS!

  2. Yeah, Matthew is right, it’s just not catered to us.

    Re: Walmart floats
I did peek at the television coverage of the parade, and it wasn’t just that there was a corporate float moving around— there were also promotional messages that the commentators (Leslie Roberts and Susan Hay) had to say— and now that bugs me.

  3. The complaints about corporate sponsorship are interesting.
The parade doesn’t run on air and kind thoughts.
Is it so horrible to see a logo, or hear the name of a company mentioned?

Someone please explain to me why this is so offensive?

  4. well I have to disagree respectfully with the littering (read: coffee cups everywhere at bloor and avenue).

but I don’t mind corporate sponsorship – I just mind the entire parade and the Global reporting station set up outside my library. I know the parade isn’t for me and I don’t stop people from watching the parade. I only get irked by the consequences of the parade. Some paraders at Bloor are also very unfriendly to people trying to use the sidewalk for non-parade viewing purposes. You are not entitled to block up the entire sidewalk with ladders and chairs AND hiss at people trying to get through the traffic.

It’s pretty ridiculous how you cannot get to the south side of Bloor street if you unfortunately made the poor choice of getting off TTC at the north side of bloor.

I do think about the kids. But it would be nice if someone would think about me and other students who have the pleasure of being at the library on a Sunday. Don’t leave our school’s already dilapidated bathroom more dilapidated when borrowing the bathroom.

Some things to keep in mind: You can style comments using Textile. In particular, *text* will get turned into text and _text_ will get turned into text. You can post a link using the command "linktext":link, so something like "google":http://www.google.com will get turned in to google. I may erase off-topic comments, or edit poorly formatted comments; I do this very rarely.
