U of T students may be getting a (mandatory) $60 metropass. ⇒

Sounds like the bus pass that Waterloo students get.
This is a post from my link log: If you click the title of this post you will be taken the web page I am discussing.
Only 1000x better because who busses around in waterloo? Where is there to bus in waterloo? I am living on res next year yet still need to pay for a bus pass i will never ever use. Its nice to have an option to bus but to force all students to pay for it is just unfair. Also the GRT sucks! Its slow, cramped. Half the busses close before midnight. On the weekend the bus I would take home is once an hour and it ends service at like 8 pm. So if I were to arrive back from fedbus sunday night I would have to pray I could take ride safe. Once I even had to ask a friend to drive me home because the busses were closed and ride safe wasn’t operating. I am still very bitter.

I think it’s a matter of ‘you get what you pay for’.
Remember that the UW U-Pass program is %50.58 per term, and compare that to $240 per term for U of T.
I think if you slashed TTC service to about 1/5th, you will get something similar to what GRT has.
