A painting of me

Are the TTC drivers really that stressed? ⇒

   22 January 2008, mid-afternoon

On Sunday some bus driver was giving Mezan and I passive-agressive shit when we got on the bus at the wrong platform.

This is a post from my link log: If you click the title of this post you will be taken the web page I am discussing.

  1. Drive the Queen Streetcar or Lansdowne bus?
    You must be mad.
They couldn’t pay me enough to do it.

I’m pretty sure that the TTC shells out discipline by giving drivers those routes.

“Yeah pal…just for that…you do 8 weeks on the Lansdowne bus starting at the beginning of July…”
    Effin’ torture.

  2. Generally older male operators are the one’s causing trouble— but I agree.

  3. I should be clear abou that “I agree” on: it’s regarding bitchy drivers.

But at the same time, I know operators do have to deal with a lot of shit. I defintitely do not recommend bus driving as job to just anyone. There are just so many aspects of operating a bus, which really makes the job difficult— schedule adherence, personal safety, fare inspection, disgruntled drivers, disgruntled passengers, and massive bus overcrowding.

But yes, still, some are just incredibly bitchy— and one wonders why some operators get abused by passengers. It’s a two way street.

  4. on this note, let me just say i almost dumped les when he told me he wants to apply for TTC’s bus driver position.

Thankfully he moved to Chicago instead.

  5. Is the TTC driver/operator labour contract up for renewal soon?

Some things to keep in mind: You can style comments using Textile. In particular, *text* will get turned into text and _text_ will get turned into text. You can post a link using the command "linktext":link, so something like "google":http://www.google.com will get turned in to google. I may erase off-topic comments, or edit poorly formatted comments; I do this very rarely.
