  1. The interesting thing about these kinds of conversations is that people are all for change…but only the change that they envisage.
Money talks and bullshit walks in most cases, and change will happen.
Whether we approve of them or not.
    Depending on who is investing.

People still hang on to the idea of something different.
If the person with the money doesn’t have your vision…you’re SOL.

The person who did the Drake had a vision…and tried to preserve and uplift…and people still bitched.
    You can’t make’em all happy.
    That’s a Canadian fact.

  2. When we were going to build a small condo behind the spoke club on portland, we heard a rumbling from city hall that this project was trying to fight for 40+ stories.

Seems like the beast has been cut down to size, and the city stood their own ground.

  3. The thing with Queen West is that the people lamenting a Roots or a Home Depot going up probably weren’t living there back when it was kind of a dump. Spadina to Bathurst is still pretty sketch as far as that strip goes. Mind you, a 40 story condo on that spot would have been a whole other kind of stupid.

Some things to keep in mind: You can style comments using Textile. In particular, *text* will get turned into text and _text_ will get turned into text. You can post a link using the command "linktext":link, so something like "google":http://www.google.com will get turned in to google. I may erase off-topic comments, or edit poorly formatted comments; I do this very rarely.
