harsh language, yes, but what then would be an appropriate response if iran was to launch a nuclear first strike on israel (not that i think iran is that stupid)? i think the question is far crazier than her response.
i don’t think this opinion is unique to hillary — i’m sure obama would say the same thing. and mccain, well, that just goes without saying.
HILLARY ’08!

Yeah, I think it’s a strange thing to discuss at all. Silverstein makes the same point. It’s also odd since Israel is probably far more likely to strike first against Iran than vice-versa.
Also, Clinton acts like every single Iranian hanging out in Iran is some how culpable for the actions of their government. “I want Iranians to know…” Who says stuff like that? It’s a bit lame that all the candidates are so quick to flex their muscles. You’d think America’s blood lust would have cooled down by now.

what she should have said is, “i want shima to know…”
i agree with you on the ridiculousness of the whole ‘blood lust’ thing. but campaign rhetoric is one thing, governing a country is another. i don’t think either candidate could afford to be particularly hawkish on iran — their democratic base just wouldn’t accept it.
that being said, i don’t know what kind of administration obama thinks he can run with policies like “hope” and “unity”. if i had a nickel for every time he’s used those words in a speech, i’d be able to afford my fixed-rate mortgage!

“Shima, I’ve got my eye on you. You better watch yourself.” — Hilary Clinton, 2008.
I can’t imagine either of them beating the McCain. He is both Old, a Man, and White. Isn’t that a requirement to become a president? Also, as far as I can tell, Americans (not so) secretly long for a cold-hearted Republican to lower taxes, brutalize criminals, and rule [them] like a king.
