Terroni Abhors Your Unsophisticated Palate. ⇒

   11 August 2008, early afternoon

Terroni's is good, but I can't figure out what's with the huge line ups. It's not that good.

This is a post from my link log: If you click the title of this post you will be taken the web page I am discussing.

  1. I don’t see this as that strange. Restaurants have always dictated in one way or another the context in which their food is served, whether it’s dress codes, no-smoking policies, or how the food is served. If you want cheese on your fish, then go to a restaurant that’ll serve it that way?

as for the lineups, I think Terroni just manages to hit enough of a niche that they can keep all their locations packed somehow. They’re somewhere in between the Olive Garden and like…Mistura, and I guess there isn’t much competition there.

  2. Terroni’s food is fresh…it’s good, but the restaurant is really, really small. The tables are way too close together in my opinion..but, as far as I’m concerned, if you can cook, no restaurant is worth waiting in line.

  3. I can’t see the need to be so steadfast in the way you present your food. Wouldn’t it be better for business if you give into simple demands like removing ingredient x so I won’t have an allergic reaction, or adding cheese because I like cheese. What advantage is there to being so against allowing a customer to vary their dish slightly. Most of the requests seemed very simple and not at all cumbersome to the staff.

By being so stubborn all you get are a bunch of angry customers who will probably not come back. But it seems they are super packed all the time so I guess its not a big deal for them.

  4. Exactly. They can be dicks and remain packed, so I don’t think they are sweating it. I wasn’t even aware this was an issue at Terroni. I mean, they always give their chilli peppers and oil whenever I ask for them, which I then smother all over anything I buy there with. I think that’s the only reason I go back to Terroni in fact. I love those hot-ass chillis.

Some things to keep in mind: You can style comments using Textile. In particular, *text* will get turned into text and _text_ will get turned into text. You can post a link using the command "linktext":link, so something like "google":http://www.google.com will get turned in to google. I may erase off-topic comments, or edit poorly formatted comments; I do this very rarely.
