On the Future of MetaFilter. ⇒

   21 May 2014, lunch time

Matt Haughey dicusses the situation, and the “peak ads” phenomenon. MetaFilter has apparently been in some financial trouble for a little while now. Over on MetaTalk they announced that they have had to reduce their staff by three people.

This is a post from my link log: If you click the title of this post you will be taken the web page I am discussing.

Comments

  1. Metafilter is strangely incredible. I will sometimes pose random questions on ask mefi and get answers super fast. I was looking for a place to buy that green eggs and hamlet t-shirt and got a response within 24 hours.

  2. Wait—you have a MetaFilter account?

  3. I got one a year or so ago maybe. I am not active. I just jump on randomly to ask questions, most of which get answered. Scratch that I joined in 2009

Don't be shy, you can comment too!

Some things to keep in mind: You can style comments using Textile. In particular, *text* will get turned into text and _text_ will get turned into text. You can post a link using the command "linktext":link, so something like "google":http://www.google.com will get turned in to google. I may erase off-topic comments, or edit poorly formatted comments; I do this very rarely.
