NYT: After Press Dinner, the Blogosphere Is Alive With the Sound of Colbert Chatter. ⇒

   3 May 2006, late afternoon

I still can't believe this didn't get more press. It just goes to show how totally fucking useless the media is in the US. Salon also has something to say on the matter. I don't think his address got any press here in Canada either for that matter, which is a shame.

This is a post from my link log: If you click the title of this post you will be taken the web page I am discussing.

  1. Well, it’s worth noting that a controversial speech at the Correspondent’s Dinner isn’t exactly front page news, so it may not be a huge surprise that the event isn’t getting massive coverage in itself. What amazes me is the mainstream news outlets that are covering the event and deliberately ignoring the fact that Colbert was even there. To the extent that there was a story that night, it sounds like he was it.

  2. The papers seem to have wasted time covering Bush and his impersonator, but seemed to have ignored Colbert calling them all jack-asses. That’s what I find annoying I guess.

  3. Oh, you’re totally right. That kind of thing enrages me. It’s one thing to leave it out, but to say that it was a fun night that passed without incident is an outright lie.

Some things to keep in mind: You can style comments using Textile. In particular, *text* will get turned into text and _text_ will get turned into text. You can post a link using the command "linktext":link, so something like "google":http://www.google.com will get turned in to google. I may erase off-topic comments, or edit poorly formatted comments; I do this very rarely.
