A painting of me

A Public meeting to discuss a shelter going in at 184 Wallace Avenue. ⇒

   1 August 2007, mid-afternoon

I think putting a new shelter in this neighbourhood is poorly thought out as well, especially on the North side of Bloor. Why would you put at risk people in a neighbourhood with fairly substantial drug and prostitution problems? That said, I think the residents aren't going to get very far making their case at the committee of adjustments.

This is a post from my link log: If you click the title of this post you will be taken the web page I am discussing.

  1. I just can’t understand why anyone thinks it’s a good idea to put more people at risk in an area that is already at risk.
    It’s just stupid.

  2. I think they build houses like this where land is cheap. If the owner had a house in Rosedale, he could probably sell it for more than he’ll make housing people for the city. If the city owned a house in Rosedale, they’d probably sell it and buy a bunch of houses on the cheap in areas that are cheap for a reason.

  3. That’s true, but in the suburbs when this sort of thing happens, the residents go postal.
Often they stop it from going ahead.
I don’t understand why community members are mowed over in Toronto.
The widening of Lansdowne is a perfect example of that. No one wants it, the neighbourhood needs more policing, and the city is just going ahead with this project that no one wants..when money could be spent on more important things in that community.

Some things to keep in mind: You can style comments using Textile. In particular, *text* will get turned into text and _text_ will get turned into text. You can post a link using the command "linktext":link, so something like "google":http://www.google.com will get turned in to google. I may erase off-topic comments, or edit poorly formatted comments; I do this very rarely.
