A painting of me

I assume everyone is reading Engadgets live coverage of today's Apple event. ⇒

  1. I want the iPod Touch so much. Everything else announced was pretty par for the course i’d say. Paying extra to make a song you own into a ring tone is ridiculous. That people pay for that shit boggles my mind. And that Starbucks partner ship is equally odd, but sounds cool as an idea.

Ars Technica has a write up of the event

  2. The ringtone thing was stupid, but I never have my phone set to anything but vibrate anyway. And I don’t have an iPhone.

I wasn’t sold on the iPod Touch until they showed the wireless networking. Now that thing is very, very appealing.

I wonder about the shape of the new Nano. The Nano seems to be the iPod of choice for the workout crowd that wants a bigger music selection and better choice (read: those who don’t use a Shuffle). Its size and shape were conducive to that. I don’t know how the new Nano’s shape is going to go over with that particular market.

  3. the ipod touch could possibly be renamed “iphone non-usa”. it’s kinda like taunting people who can’t get iphone’s on their carrier.

  4. Pretty much. I’m probably going to buy the touch when it’s out in the stores here. It doesn’t look like the iPhone is going to make it to Canada anytime soon, and I can’t imagine how good the data plans will be when it does get here.

  5. I’ve been using the original Shuffle in the gym since it came out. It’ll probably last forever unless I drop a weight on it. It would be nice to have a screen sometimes though. Maybe I’ll check out the Nano if I ever make it into an Apple store.

  6. I usually prefer gizmodo coverage.

The iPod Touch is looking hot! It’s super thin!

  7. Differences between the Touch and the iPhone.

Some things to keep in mind: You can style comments using Textile. In particular, *text* will get turned into text and _text_ will get turned into text. You can post a link using the command "linktext":link, so something like "google":http://www.google.com will get turned in to google. I may erase off-topic comments, or edit poorly formatted comments; I do this very rarely.
